Let’s see some animals?
During this activity you will have the opportunity to watch whales and dolphins (cetaceans) in their natural habitat. The main whale watching season in Faial Island goes from April to October. You can go on a whale watching trip regardless of your age and physical status, everybody is welcome! If you have a disability that requires special assistance, prior notice is needed.

We work with the traditional lookouts (that were used in the whaling era) located in Faial and Pico Islands. They look for whales and dolphins daily, to make sure that every trip is a success. The one thing we cannot assure you are the weather conditions that sometimes prohibit us from going to sea, so it is best to book your trip in advance so you can have anoter chance if we have to cancel.
Did you know that some of the most amazing species in the World can be found in the Azores?
We have resident species that we can observe throughout the year like the Sperm Whales (Physeter macrocephalus), Common Dolphins (Delphinus delphis), Rissos’s Doplhins (Grampus griseus) and Bottlenose Dolphins (Tursiops truncates), as well as some migratory species that we can observe during the Spring time: Blue Whales (Balaenoptera musculus), Fin Whales (Balaenoptera physalus), Sei Whales (Balaenoptera borealis), Humpback Whales (Megaptera novaengliae) and during the Summer, some groups of Spotted Dolphins (Stenella frontalis) and Striped Dolphins (Stenella coeruleoalba).
Unpredictable sightings of False Killer Whales (Pseudorca crassidens), Pilot Whales (Globicephala sp) and Beaked Whales (Ziphiidae/Mesoplodon sp) can happen at any time! Also to observe sea turtles and seabirds.
We have two types of trips:
